Repair Process
  1. Find source of problem: The first thing that VicProp will do is determine the feasibility and cost-effectiveness of repairing your prop. For problems that are not visibly obvious, we utilize highly accurate measuring devices to produce a digital readout of prop pitch to determine source of propeller performance problem. Our technicians have been analyzing propeller problems for years and can diagnose by doing a situational analysis (circumstances leading to the problem) combined with a thorough visual and instrument diagnostic inspection. We will then propose an optimum solution for your needs.
  2. Note: Propellers come to us with varying degrees of damage. Where possible, we will repair them. Because of their condition, the risk of breakage exists. All repairs performed at owners risk with the knowledge that breakage can occur.

  3. Straighten: Deformities and damage are first physically ‘straightened’ to bring the prop back to its intended shape. This is done with specialized industry tools such as pitch blocks, propeller hydraulics, anvils and a good old fashioned hammer. The experience of our skilled technicians ensure that only optimal force is used to ensure that the final strength and integrity of the prop is not compromised.
  4. Welding: Once a welding solution has been identified, VicProp implements a quality management process to achieve the high standards that we are known for in the industry. TIG, heliarc or oxyacetylene brazing may be employed for various solutions. After carefully prepping the propeller, the welding is done by our propeller welding technicians with years of experience of dealing with the full range of propeller metals and their unique welding requirements. Once the welding has been done, grinding and finishing remove excess weld and achieve uniformity with prop shaping. Static balance is ensured with our specialized propeller balancing equipment.
  5. Inspection: Careful inspection is continuous throughout the repair process but a final detailed one ensures that there are absolutely no defects in our workmanship and optimum performance will be achieved.

Warranty: All repair work is fully warranted against defects unless noted otherwise. Propeller must be returned " undamaged " and it will be corrected or replaced no charge. Rubber drive hub replacement carries a 6 month warranty against slippage unless noted otherwise. Propeller must be returned " undamaged " and the hub will be replaced no charge.
